The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday reminded electors that only seven days remain to file claims and objections under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Bihar.
So far, the Commission has received 1,40,931 claims and objections directly from electors for the inclusion of eligible voters and removal of ineligible ones. Of these, 14,374 have already been disposed of in the last week.
The ECI further confirmed that the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation—part of the INDIA bloc—has filed 10 objections under the process.
Alongside, the Commission has received 3,79,692 Form 6 applications with declarations from new voters who have attained the age of 18 years or above.
Issuing a clarification on the process, the ECI stressed that no name can be deleted from the draft electoral roll published on August 1, 2025, without a “speaking order” passed by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO). Such orders must follow proper inquiry and ensure fair opportunity to those affected.
The Commission added that the list of names not included in the draft roll, along with reasons for exclusion, is available on the district websites of DEOs/DMs and on the CEO’s website in searchable mode using EPIC numbers. Aggrieved persons can submit their claims with a copy of their Aadhaar card.
According to the release, 1,60,813 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties are authorized to collect and file claims (Form 6) and objections (Form 7) on behalf of electors. However, general complaints without the prescribed forms or declarations will not be considered valid.
The SIR exercise in Bihar began on June 24, and nearly 65 lakh electors were found ineligible, leading to their exclusion from the draft electoral roll published on August 1.
